Baggage policy

General Rules Baggage Allowance

Depending on the ticket classes and flight types (domestic and international) for each airline, baggage policies will be specified as follows:

I. For the Garuda Indonesia tickets:

1. Checked Baggage

Strict ruling: Checked baggage must be not exceed 70 lbs/32 kg.

***Free Baggage Allowance on Domestic Flights

Economy Class: Maximum weight allowance is 20 kilograms for adult, children and infant with seat. Infant without seat is allowed for 10 kilograms for infant.

Business Economy: Maximum weight allowance is 30 kilograms for adult, children and infant with seat. Infant without seat is allowed for 10 kilograms for infant.

First Class: Maximum weight allowance is 40 kilograms for adult, children and infant with seat. Infant without seat is allowed for 20 kilograms for infant.

***Free Baggage Allowance on International Flights

Economy Class: Maximum weight allowance is 30 kilograms for adult, children and infant with seat. Infant without seat is allowed for 10 kilograms for infant.

Business Economy: Maximum weight allowance is 40 kilograms for adult, children and infant with seat. Infant without seat is allowed for 10 kilograms for infant.

First Class: Maximum weight allowance is 50 kilograms for adult, children and infant with seat. Infant without seat is allowed for 10 kilograms for infant.

2. Hand Baggage

Hand baggage for each passenger is at 7kg and have a maximum length 56cm, width 36 cm, depth 23cm and the maximum dimensions (the sum of the 3 dimensions of each carry on item) not exceed 115cm.

3. Excess Baggage Rate Charge: Please email to cs@flygarudaairlines.com for details or prepaid services.

Conditions: - Rates are applied if for point to point flights

                   - Rates can change at any time without prior notice following policy of Garuda Airlines.

4. Animals

Animals are not accepted for carriage in passenger cabin. Carriage of animals will be accepted as checked baggage only and will be stowed in lower deck compartment with strict conditions applied. For more information or support, please email to cs@flygarudaairlines.com at least 7 days prior to your departure time.

5. Valuable Items

Valuable and special items such as cash, jewelry, computer, laptop...should not be packed into your checked baggage to avoid missing or crashed.

6. Special Baggage

- Passenger with special baggage such as sport equipment should follow the conditions as below:

**Each passenger is allowed for 01 piece sport equipment for free

**If the passenger bring more than 1 piece, the second one should be calculated into the Free Baggage Allowance.

**When the baggage (including sporting equipment) over the passenger baggage allowance, such excess will be assessed first at normal applicable excess baggage rate.

- All Sporting Equipment may be included into applicable passengers Free Baggage Allowance according to their actual fare paid.

- If the baggage over the Free Baggage Allowance, the excess can not be compensated to his/her free sport equipment.

- IMPORTANT NOTE FOR SMART LUGGAGE: Passengers are not allowed from checking in or carrying Smart Luggage with non-removable batteries.

***Firearms and its ammunition such as shotgun, handgun, any pistols, revolver, signal flares pistols, handgun of any types should be accompanied with permission and procedures of carriage of firearms and its ammunition follow local regulation.

NOTE: Passengers shall declared to our check-in counter staff and enclosed with a proper documents. The firearms also must be unloaded and properly packed with locked hard-sided container.

***E-Cigarette Regulations

E-cigarettes are accepted as hand baggage to carry on to the plane but smoking is not allowed on board.

***Lighters and Matches

It is prohibited to carry lighters and matches in carry-on and checked baggage.

***Power Bank

Please check your power bank battery capacity and declare it to the airline before boarding. For safety reasons, power banks are only allowed in carry-on baggage and not allowed in checked luggage. Only power banks with a maximum capacity of 100 Wh (or 20,000 mAh) are allowed in cabin area. Other capacities should be subjected to airline approval. Please ensure that your power bank has a clear cell capacity label to be allowed in carry-on luggage. Using power banks is strictly prohibited during flight time.

7. Prohibited Items

You must not include into your baggage:

-Items, which are reasonably, considered by us to be unsuitable for carriage because they are dangerous, unsafe or because of their weight, size, shape or character.

-Firearms, ammunition and support instruments are prohibited from carriage as Baggage unless having acceptance from the authority. Explosives, explosive materials, flammable substances, items, which can be used as threatening weapons, and other dangerous substances may only be accepted as Checked Baggage, subject to Our Regulations. For safety reason, cartridges must be taken out from the guns. Cartridges must be suitably packed. Carriage of the firearms, ammunition and support instrument is subject to Our Regulations and those of ICAO, IATA, Airport Authorities.

- You are prohibited from including in your Checked Baggage, fragile or perishable items (fresh and perishable foodstuff…), artwork, cameras, money, jeweler, precious metals, silverware, computers, electronic devices, securities or other valuables, negotiable papers, contract, business documents, samples, passports and other identification documents, other valuable items.
